Full Design Process
INITIAL CONSULTATION
Following on from an initial telephone conversation, a site visit is arranged in order to view the garden and discuss the client’s requirements as well as to explore time scale and budget. This information forms the basis of and influences the design brief, the overall concept and design of the garden.
SITE SURVEY & ANALYSIS
A full site survey is taken and depending on the scale and complexity of the site, this will either be undertaken by a specialist landscape surveyor or by SH Garden Design. This process includes taking full site measurements, recording changes in levels, taking soil samples, photographs and observations on the site.
PRESENTATION DRAWINGS
SH Design will develop an initial outline design along which they will then present to the client along with various presentation drawings and images and possible samples formulated into mood boards to help the client envisage the proposed design.
DETAILED CONSTRUCTION PLANS, DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATION DOCUMENTATION
When the client is happy with the proposals, an accurate and detailed plan is drawn up. This includes setting out plans, construction drawings and specifications on which the landscape contractor can base the quotation. This stage of the process is crucial for the contract to go out to tender and helps ensure the smooth running of the project down the line.
CONSTRUCTION & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
We can help you find and select a suitable contractor, obtain quotations and help in the selection of the appropriate contractor. Once construction is underway, we can oversee the build, liaise between the client and the contractor. We will visit the site regularly to ensure the project is running smoothly.
PLANTING PLANS
Planting plans can either form part of an overall design or be provided for an individual border. We source the plants from specialist nurseries, and can produce a maintenance schedule, with notes on the future care and maintenance of all the plants.
ONGOING SERVICES
Because gardens are living spaces and constantly evolve and change as the seasons and years go by, we offer ongoing advice on design, styling and planting. We can help you review your garden as often as required and arrange remedial or developmental work as required.
